Professional Supervision

Sophie provides compassionate, collaborative supervision to provisional and generally registered psychologists, particularly those seeking to develop their skills in her areas of interest and therapeutic modalities. She is passionate about supporting supervisees to grow their confidence, clinical skills, and professional identity within a safe and supportive environment.

  • You don’t need a referral to access my services, however a referral from your GP accompanied by a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) or Chronic Disease Management Plan will allow you to access Medicare rebates. To ensure that your rebate can be processed, please ensure that your referral is sent to me via email at hello@sophieodwyerpsychology.com.au prior to your first appointment.

  • If you are an Australian Citizen, you may be eligible for a rebate through Medicare with a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP). To assess your eligibility, you will need to meet with your treating doctor for an evaluation. Following your 6th and 10th session with your psychologist, you will need to visit your doctor for a review to ensure the care plan remains valid and you continue to be eligible for your rebate. As of 1st July 2025, you are able to claim up to 10 sessions per calendar year and the current rebate stands at $98.95. This may increase depending on your Medicare Safety Net.   • Private health insurance may also provide rebates (although not in combination with the above Medicare rebates) depending on your level of cover. Please check with your insurer regarding coverage if this is a rebate you hope to access.

  • For those with chronic conditions (such as chronic pain) your GP may deem you eligible for a Team Care Arrangement or Chronic Disease Management Plan which allows you up to 5 rebates across your health professionals at a rebate of $60.35.

Cancellation Policy

Your appointment time is reserved especially for you. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please provide at least 48 hours’ notice to avoid a cancellation fee.

  • More than 48 hours’ notice: No fee applies.

  • Within 48 hours: 50% of the session fee will be charged.

  • Within 24 hours or non-attendance: The full session fee will be charged.

Please note that Medicare rebates cannot be claimed for missed or late-cancelled sessions.
